Human Rights & Social Justice
Human rights and Social Justice is at the core of my interest because the world we live in is still deep-rooted in legal and social discriminations that restrict freedom, expression, inclusion, and association of persons. I am interested in how we can close the social and policy gaps in human rights protection through inclusive laws and policies that are centered on our diversity as people but also rooted in equity and equality.
Someday, I want to wake up in a world where LGBTIQ persons and women are not held back because of their sexuality or gender while working to achieving their full human potentials set by their own beliefs and standards.
I am after how we can study and understand the connection between the discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ persons and women. In doing this, I hope we can strive to understand how this has contributed greatly to the way we have built our society, laws, and judicial system that are yet to reflect inclusion, respect for human rights, and diversity of people.
We must know the impact of harmful social norms and values that give power to exclusion, promote injustice, and violent practices that have long enabled human rights violations against LGBTIQ persons and women. It is important to me that we dismantle sexual and gender discrimination that is mostly informed by harmful personal religious beliefs, social norms, and values.
I want to see how we can institutionalize human rights principles into the core of the system that serves us as people. I desire to see how we can evolve as a people to rebuild a society that enables human rights while understanding that discrimination, exclusion, and disregard for human rights is an extreme danger to us all, irrespective of who we are or love.
I am keen on how we can create a balance that enables equal access for all by ensuring the people who have been marginalized by harmful social norms, values, and bad governance are brought to the table of decisions. To do this, we must center the decision about them rather than for them. I desire to see how we build a society where there is equity, freedom, justice, and equal opportunities for all.
